SENATOR GIANARIS ANNOUNCES INCREASED WESTERN QUEENS BUS SERVICE Queens, NY In response to Senator Michael Gianariss push for expanded service on the Q103 bus line, a total of 40 minutes of service has now been added to the lines hours of operation. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), in recognition of the neighborhoods growth potential highlighted by Senator Gianaris, also agreed to further increase Q103 service as ridership increases in the future. As of September 4th, the Q103 now begins its weekday service at 6:10 am and ends at 7:00 pm. Before the schedule change, service began at 6:30 am and ended at 6:40 pm. I am grateful to the MTA for recognizing the increasing need for bus service between Long Island City and Astoria, Senator Gianaris said. This vibrant and growing part of western Queens will continue to need more mass transit options as its population increases. I will keep advocating for more service and greater reliability. In August, Senator Gianaris sent a letter to MTA Chairman Joseph Lhota requesting expanded Q103 bus line hours of operation to night and weekend service due to a developing arts corridor along the bus route and an expected increase in traffic from the construction of the CornellTechnion Applied Sciense campus on Roosevelt Island. The only bridge connecting to Roosevelt Island empties directly onto the Q103 route between Astoria and Long Island City. ### http://www.scribd.com/SenatorMikeGianaris www.gianaris.nysenate.gov
