Welcome to the Annual Youth Hunt!!

This is a great opportunity that we all enjoy, we just need you to follow a couple rules to keep all participants SAFE!

1. Always think "SAFETY FIRST." It is the most important aspect of this hunt and every hunt.

2. If you have a question about the safety, DON'T TAKE THE SHOT! You will have chances at other birds. 3. All hunting participants and all parties in the field must wear at least a cap, vest or coat of hunter orange. 4. Always know your safe shooting zone. Always know where the other people and dogs in your hunting parties are. 5. Your hunting guide/dog handler is in charge of your party. Listen carefully to them, and dont be afraid to ask questions. 6. DO NOT LOAD YOUR GUN UNTIL INSTRUCTED TO DO SO BY YOUR GUIDE! USE ONLY AMMUNITION THAT IS APPROPRIATE FOR YOUR GUN! 7. ALWAYS KNOW WHERE YOUR GUN IS POINTED! ALWAYS KEEP YOUR GUN POINTED IN A SAFE DIRECTION! 8. If at all possible, do not use a shotgun with a choke tighter than a modified choke. Advise your guide if the gun you are using has a choke tighter than a modified choke. 9. Use a No.6 shot size, or a No. 7 shot size. 10. NO ONE SHALL HAVE MORE THAN TWO SHELLS IN THEIR GUN AT ANYTIME! 11. Remember that you will be shooting over dogs. Make sure to allow the bird to rise high enough so that the dog will not be in the line of fire. If you cannot see sky below the bird, DON'T TAKE THE SHOT! There will be other shots. 12. Always identify your target before you shoot. We will be shooting only Roosters. When a bird goes up, there's a lot of noise, a lot of excitement, and you feel that you have to shoot quickly. Your guides and mentors should help by shouting "Rooster or "Hen". You really have more time than you think. Remember, it is illegal to shoot hens, so if you are not sure, DON'T TAKE THE SHOT! 13. Let the dog make the retrieve. While the dog is retrieving, hunting ceases. If the bird flushes while the dog is making the retrieve, DON'T TAKE THE SHOT! 14. DON'T SHOOT AT ANYTHING ON THE GROUND! This includes running Pheasants or Rabbits. 15. You will be participating in a controlled youth hunt and are required to abide by State of Ohio hunting regulations. If a participant harvests a legal limit of pheasants (2), hunting ceases for the participant and the participant's GUN MUST BE UNLOADED while the remainder of the party completes their hunt. THE ABOVE RULES ARE MANDATORY ANYONE WHO VIOLATES THESE WILL BE ASKED TO END THEIR HUNT
