. Putnam contacted Tituba because her daughter, Ruth, has been acting strange lately, and has been very ill. It is rumored that Tituba can speak to the dead spirits that Mrs. Putnam thinks are haunting Ruth. 10. Abigail accuses Tituba and Ruth of conjuring spirits in the woods. 11. Betty says that Abigail was trying to kill Mrs. Procter (John Proctors Wife) by drinking a charm that involved blood. 12. Abigail says that if either of the girls talks about the woods, she will come to them in the middle of the night and kill them with a knife. 13. I think that John Proctor and Abigail had a relationship in the past. John wants Abigail to move on, but Abigail doesnt want to. 14. I think that the part Rebecca Nurse plays in this play is that she is the one that will try to calm everyone down and try to find more logical solutions. She is also the main voice of reason at this point in the play. 15. John Proctor feels that Reverend Parris is abusing his salary, and taking advantage of his power position. He doesnt think that Parris should be allowed to have ownership over his house, and that he should go against Parriss leadership. 16. Thomas Putnam thinks that John Proctor was stealing wood off of his land, and that he was then selling it. John Proctor thinks that the land was never Putnams grandfathers to give away in his will, so he should be able to get wood off of it.
