MTV
MTV, originally an initialise of Music Television, is an American cable television channel based in New York City that launched on August 1, 1981. The original purpose of the channel was to play music videos guided by on-air hosts known as VJs. Today, MTV primarily broadcasts a variety of reality and scripted television programs targeted at adolescents and young adults.

OTHER CHANNELS OF MTV


MTV has spawned numerous sister channels in the U.S. and affiliated channels internationally, some of which have gone independent. MTV's influence on its audience, including issues related to censorship and social activism, has been a subject of debate for years. MTV Base, MTV Dance, MTV2 are all for different genres.

KERRANG!
In 2001 EMAP launched Kerrang! TV. As with the radio station, the television channel covers the more mainstream side of the rock music as well as classic rock bands like Aerosmith and AC/DC, and classic heavy metal bands such as Guns N' Roses and Metallica. Kerrang TV is now a joint venture between Bauer Media Group and Channel 4.

CHANNEL AKA
Channel AKA (formerly Channel U) is a British digital satellite TV channel, owned by All Around the World Productions, available through Sky within the UK and Ireland on channel 370. It is a music channel, focusing on playing upcoming UK urban/grime/hip-hop music and has helped the breakthrough for acts such as Tinchy Stryder, Tinie Tempah, Chipmunk, Wretch 32, Devlin and N-Dubz.

VIVA

In the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, VIVA launched on 26 October 2009, replacing TMF it has a completely different logo to the other countries.
