Moduwana District Arts Festival


The Department of Sport, Art, Culture and Recreation, in collaboration with Matjhabeng Local Municipality and Sputniki entertainment embarked on a combined extravaganza art project in the district of Lejweleputswa to showcase talent and create platform for emerging artist in the district. This festival, coined Moduwana District Arts Festival, is a platform to enhance, empower, showcase talent as well as create space for artist development. It is one of such programs that would promote theatre, music and dance as a social and competitive activity in our community The festival will be comprised of different art forms in theatre, dance and music categorized as follows: Theatre: Drama and Poetry Dance: Tradition and Afro fusion (Hip-Hop, Sepantsula, Sepotjwa) Music: Gospel, Kwaito and Jazz

This project is the first of its kind in the quest for the empowerment and development of artists in the district. The festival will be hosted as follows: Date : Venue : Time : 29th September 2012 Welkom Club 09:00

Trophies and price money will be awarded to the winners in position one, two and three. Recording deals, production tour and other opportunities will be provided to all participants. The event is expected to attract about 1000 young people in the district.
