Counter-protests have formed throughout major cities in Japan, where protesters have called for a forceful assertion of Japans

right to the islands. They have demanded that the Japanese citizens who landed on the island, whose permits to fish in those waters have since been revoked, be issued new permits. In Kyoto, protestors are brandishing pictures of the Japanese flag flying in Uotsuri and demanding that one be permanently put there. Meanwhile, protests continued in Okinawa as the U.S. delivered its second installment of MV-22 Osprey aircrafts to its base there. The aircrafts, designed to be part helicopter part-plane, have been called unsafe by several residents of Okinawa. The people of Okinawa have been expressing increased discontent with the U.S. military presence there over the last 3 years.
