Monroe and La Salle originally came from an unknown source in Russia, where Mohammad Abdullah Amarin then transported it to Port Qasim in Pakistan, a junior member of Al Qaeda. From the Pakistani port, it entered the United States in multiple packages through both the Los Angeles port and the Port of Long Beach, California. Once the packages passed through both ports, Ahmad Hassan Kouri placed them in a stolen white Dodge Grand Caravan and drove cross-country to Evanston, Illinois. Amarin then stored the boxes in his colleagues apartment in Northshore Apartments, where the bomb was assembled. Abdul Malik drove the final product in a white Weslec Electrical Service Van south to Chicago and parked in at the corner of Monroe and La Salle on the side of the street.
