Raz-Kids.com
Your child has access to a wonderful world of books through www.raz-kids.com, the online library of exciting reading materials. Your child was introduced to this program last year and we are continuing to use this tool again! Raz-Kids helps students improve their reading skills as they listen to a book read to model fluency. Then, if the computer has a built-in record function, they can record themselves reading the same book. Or, students can read the book to themselves or aloud for practice. Interactive quizzes are available at the end of each book to check for understanding. Here is how to access the website and your childs reading assignment from any computer connected to the Internet:
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Go to www.raz-kids.com from your Internet browser and click Log In. Type in the teachers username (kwoodaap) and click Go. Find your name on the chart and click on it. Enter a text password. The books in your childs assignment and stars earned appear on a personal assignment page. Your child can choose to listen, read, or take a quiz by clicking on the symbols below each book. Remember your child must complete one book before beginning another and they must complete each step before moving on. (Listen to the book, Read the book, and Take the Quiz).
Some levels are based on previous reading assessments. Once I finalize my reading assessments I will adjust levels as needed to help your child build fluency and comprehension. Please note the levels on Raz-Kids.com do not always match the levels you are familiar with in our classroom. Below is a conversion chart to help clarify the differences. Remember, the more your child reads, the better reader he or she will become! Enjoy! Kylie Wood
