Apart from the Chinese Vegetarian Festival that will be occurred during 15 th - 23 rd
October, 2012, we also know that vegetarian is more than ritual, but also lifestyle
featuring various purposes of consumers. For serious vegetarians who respect
Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy according to Mahayana Religion, will reject those
fish and milk; however they can eat oyster (as there was a legend that oysters
help Guanyin as food when she and her followers were in severe condition).
Anyway, some vegetarians eat fish and reject those big animals. Most of them
select to be veggie for their health. Whats more, some vegetarians also go
green believing that meat eating makes more Carbon to the globe as the method
of animal husbandry.

The Royal Project Shop at the Faculty of Agriculture, Chiang Mai

University, is designed by Architect Jamjaras Suchiva from the Powarint
Co. Ltd. Jamjaras is the nephew of M.C. Peesadej Rajani, Chairman of the Royal Project Foundation. With the idea how the building
stay harmoniously with the huge rain trees, the architect picks soil
bricks to run the cozy brown walls which also act as the stands of
the construction due to there is no stake for this building. The sparse
roof is put to make the building airy. Clear glasses in the east side
of this contemporary style building, which is set for coffee shop, let
the natural light shining the interior. The west side of the building is
set for supermarket selling Royal Project products. There is a small
mezzanine above fresh product frozen stalls. The stairs are very cool
as they are made of iron plates. The entire design is well balanced
between contemporary style with local senses. The architect
wonderfully makes the cozy ambience to this construction.

Pakamon Bakery is owned by Pakamon Panyo and her
husband Kieat Saksila. The shop is located in Nakornping
Hospital, opened for both taking away and hanging out
at its space. Opened for over 8 years, Pakamon said that
she did not plan for this before. It came only when she
ran real estate business in Phuket and she did cookies for her customers in the estate. After she backed to
Chiang Mai, she still made baked goods for her sisters
friends at Nakornping Hospital until one day the hospital
opened the space for any shops, Pakamon Bakery was
established since then. She said that her happiness come
from when she made patisserie and happiness come
higher when she finds customers are also happy with her
products. This is the reason why she established the new
branch on Sirimangalajarn Road with the concept A Little
Happiness.

Street Food this issue brings you to Payap

many dormitories around, Thai a la carte
food shops are available diversely. There
is an outstanding one which is Bee Hieng
Restaurant. Bee Hieng Restaurant serves
Thai fusion a la carte food which is very
different from other general food shops. Try
fried rice with pork steak or grilled chicken,
fried green noodle with fish, fried tom yum
rice with grilled chicken, etc. Price is between 40-50 Baht per dish. The dishes are
tasty and very worthy.

Khun Phung- Pongphan Palapong, the founder of Chiang Mai based famous
