Ralph : The boy with fair hair, He is one of the oldest boys on the island, He becomes the groups leader. And Golding describes Ralph as tall for his age , handsome, calm and rational. 2. Piggy : Piggy Subject of the group's ridicule for his weight, asthma, and general lack of physical prowess or stamina. He is a boys spectacles and the intellectual on the island. 3. Lord of the Flies opens with Ralph meeting Piggy. Their conversation provides the background of their situation : On the deserted Island and uninhabited in the pacific ocean without adults. With a hint of Piggy, Ralph collecting other children using the shells that blown, it found while swimming. Soon boys between ages 6 and 12 come streaming out of the jungle onto the beach, assembling on the platform near Ralph. Last to arrive are Jack and the choirboys. And then they elect Ralph to lead, with the intellectual Piggy as counselor. But Jack wants to lead too, Ralph suggests that Jack remain in charge of the choirboys. They need food to eat, and continue to explore the island, this time in search of food.
