Peasant are primarily concerned with providing for their own families.

Their srategy is that when the family has many small childern, the peast parents work hard to support them all. They expand the size of the fields to meet the needs of the family. Later when the children grow up and can contribute to their own support by work in the fields, the parents work less hard and eventually, the children leave and the size of the family farm is again small or reduced. In Chayanovs theory of peasant economy Peasants are independent from larger society Peasant family farm is a producing unit but not connected with market economy Peasant family primarily is concerned with providing for their own family Peasatn family developmnt is seen in a worker/consumer ratio. Adults are workers and both adults and children are consumers. For the application of his theory of peasant economy he used a family cycle and I ma giving a simplified form of his graph. Years married 1 5 10 20 25 30 People presnt WH WHC WHCC WHCC WHC WH Consumers 2 3 4 4 3 2 Workers 2 2 2 3 3 2 C/W Ratio 1.0 1.5 2.0 1.3 1.0 1.0

When a man marry a woman they form two persons and work togather and the workerconsumer ratio is simple. At the time of 5 years marriage a children is born then consumer member increase then consumer- worker ratio increase at 1.5 level. After havin two children at the 10 years of their marrige w/c ratio is 2.
