The purpose of First Ecumenical Church is to bring people to Jesus and membership in His family. Develop them to Christ like maturity, and equip them for their ministry in the church and life mission in the world, in order to magnify Gods name.
Reverend Sylvia Mickens gave her life to Christ over 28 years ago. Reverend Mickens is Pastor and Director of Christ Central Ministries. She also serves beside her mother, Pastor Dr. Hattie Mae Mickens, as the Assistant Pastor of Holy Light Tabernacle, a Messianic Ministry that embraces its Jewish roots. In 2010, she was licensed and ordained in the Ecumenical Church Worldwide. She also serves on the Ecumenical Council and has served for over ten years in local missions at the House of Praise under the leadership of Bishop Darrell and Mary Croft. Reverend Mickens is the Program Coordinator for the CityLight monthly prayer breakfast. She serves on numerous other boards as she believes that Ministry takes you in many directions. As such, she serves on the following boards: Holy Light Tabernacle Church Executive Board, Christ Central Executive Board, Esther Women of Influence Executive Board, First Ecumenical Council, and the Eternal Release Executive Board. She is the fifth of fourteen children born to Pastor Dr. Hattie Mae and the late Deacon James Mickens. She has 5 children, four grandchildren, and 1 great grandson. Her ultimate goal in life is to record a True Name Gospel CD and to continue to fulfill Gods purpose for her. In her walk, she feels she has been privileged to meet some of the most powerful loving and giving people. She says that she is just honored to be a vessel used by God and that it is an even greater honor to serve His people.
