Since your administrators have asked that all instructors include a statement about assessment in their syllabus, you need to start thinking critically about how you want to describe the methods of assessment you will be using to your students. In this entry, create a statement about assessment that describes the following points to your students: 1. Explain what your definition of assessment is. 2. Explain how you plan on grading/responding to student work. 3. Explain why you are assessing them in this manner.

Assessment is analyzing the quality of someones work to quantify what a student deserves in terms of a grade. I would quality students based on quality and a set of expectations that I would discuss before the task was assigned. I would assess this way because it is the most efficient and fair way I can think of.
