The war

The cold of the night, kept sleep away The warmth of the day brought lice to stay

The sound of the guns was held in their mind The thought that they might be the next to die

The thought of the dead made men shiver The thought of their end made them quiver

The men were tired from being up so late The rats and mice were all that they hate

The mud on the ground bought disease The coldness made them freeze

None of them were ever grinning Was it the end or was in the beginning?
