SORT EXAMPLE FOR SORT # 6

Words with short o and long o. In these words the sound of "o" is either short like in mop or long as in oval or snow. "Some" is somewhat of an oddball because it does not have either the short or long o sound but the "uh" sound. Students can stretch each sound out in the word (I call it stretching the word out to show me your muscles.) to hear if the a sound is either short or long. REMEMBER the long o sound always sounds like its letter name (o).
