The band index is a key place to know about up and coming bands making it convenient that theyre all in one column. I think the placement of it is not the best because its shoved to the side. But red conotates with warning making it stand out to the side. The subscription box is in black at the bottom of the page. I think the fact that its contrasts the red , could mean that the institution wants our attention drawn to this , that subscription is a very important issue. NMEs logo is still red but its not as central as the title this week making the consumer feel the need to buy it in order to keep up with celebrity news. I think this is a good idea that I could use as inspiration , as the consumers feel more up to date thus buying more to keep up with next weeks news for example.

The picture is of two men looking into the distance. The caption describes that are members of a band called The Foo Fighters. the photo symbolises the moment. The Uses and Gratifications theory helps explains this because were drawn into the picture and what theyre looking at and why theyre looking into the distance. We dont need to know but we as a audience will read it for entertainment and for escapism. Having this section separate and in a bigger text size allows the reader to quickly scam the page , to see what articles are in this issue. Past covers help create a better image and gives the consumer a better idea of the institutions image.
