For my assignment I have chosen to investigate the Modern Foreign Languages education system in the United Kingdom, Germany

and the United States. I will be making recommendations for the English education system with a list of constraints that could occur. I will be comparing the three countries and how the English education system needs to implement strategies that will motivate learners to study languages. I will be looking at comparing how languages are a major part of the curriculum in Germany, whereas the USA and England are still not viewing any other languages as very important. I might mention how this could because English is seen as a global language but then question if it is really? I will be making recommendations for the UK to introduce Modern Foreign Languages in primary school. This will allow learners to get used to the languages from an early age and it will also not be an additional change that they will have to go through when they begin secondary schools. The restriction could be that are all primary teachers qualifies enough to teach primary children and if so are the primary schools ready to fund languages over English or Maths. I will further link this to the traditional ideology of MFL in England. How most lessons are based on verbs, tenses, grammar and not enough practical experiences.
