In the film, the X-men, different types of shots are used to create tension and a solemn atmosphere in this

particular scene. One of the most used shots within this scene is the Over-theshoulder shot. The screenshot seen on the right denotes an over-the-shoulder shot of the character Magneto converging in conversation with the character of Xavier, in the shot the audience can see Magnetos facial expression which could connote that the director chose this type of shot as he intended for the audience to experience which emotions Magneto is expressing hence creating an atmosphere based on the emotions which are expressed my the characters. For this shot the camera is placed behind the shoulder of the character Xavier. The screenshot seen on the left denotes an over-the-shoulder shot of the character Xavier converging in conversation with the character of Magneto, the same connotations are in place with this screenshot as the director is trying to connote the meaning via the Camera angle aspect of Mise-en-scene. Yet again the camera angle shot helps attain the atmosphere within in the scene by using the emotions expressed by the characters to create the mood.

This shot is a close up shot, this when a certain feature or part of the subject/item takes up the whole frame. Close-ups are obviously useful for showing detail and can also be used as a cut-in. A close-up of an object emphasizes the emotional state and can help bring out a tense atmosphere.
