For Against For the next few class periods you will be working with a group of 3-4 students on a Debate Project. You will be assigned a topic and will either argue for or against this topic. 1. Find an article that supports your side of the topic. 2. Annotate the article and complete the attached note-taking form. 3. Complete the article critique form. 4. Work with your group to determine an opening statement, three main points, and a closing statement. Your opening statement and closing statement may state your opinion but your three main points must be facts. We will present our debates in class using the following format: Group 1 Opening Statement Group 2 Opening Statement Group 1 Main Point Group 2 Main Point Group 1 Main Point Group 2 Main Point Group 1 Main Point Group 2 Main Point Group 1 Rebuttal Group 2 Rebuttal Group 1 Closing Statement Group 2 Closing Statement 5. While you are watching the debates you must complete the Debate Project Viewing Guide. 6. When you finish the entire project you will complete the Reflection Sheet. This project is worth 30 points.
