Reflection on Clinics & Workshops

Overall I found the clinics and workshops to be a nice way to get practical about your design. However there are some things Id like to point out that did not work out that well: 1. The interaction vision workshop expanded my understanding of how an interaction vision could be presented, but the most traditional one (a written text) is by far the most useful for me. The workshop could focus more on defining the difference between an interaction vision and the desired emotions of an interaction. The example used in the workshop could be used for both and was therefore confusing. 2. The interaction prototyping session was never part of the initial course planning which made it hard to work towards this type of session. The result was that the session wasnt as experiential as it could have been, thus not providing the deep insights that this session seemed to be intended to bring forward. Instead, the session was a place to discuss concepts on a rational level. If the session had been more clearly linked to the first interaction vision workshop it might result in more experiential prototypes. The coaching sessions where often very lengthy because there was a lot more to discuss than could be fitted in the schedule. This is a shame, but probably not changeable. I felt the coaching questions helped me in finding gaps in my understanding of the project, which were frustrating to find, but helpful for the progress of the project. Samuel Verburg
