Density of Gas Lab

Chemistry Period 6 3/13/12 Lab Group: Matthew Molina Hunter Kea Alan Sharif Zakk Storbakken

Error Analysis Table Error Some air could have gotten into the collection beaker. Effect Air could have gone through the collection tube and into the beaker, which might have contained the results. Not all of the seltzer tablet could have reacted, which means results very depending on how much is reacted. Remedy Making sure that the tube is clear and dont put the seltzer into the reaction beaker until the tube is in the collection beaker. Swirl around the beaker to make sure all has been reacted.

Not all of the seltzer tablet could have reacted with the water.

Conclusion: When the seltzer tablet was dropped into the water the CO2 gas went into 5the beaker that was submerged in the water. That caused the water in the beaker to go down, as the CO2 gas started filling the beaker. The reason for this is the pressure of the gas emitted from the seltzer pushed its self up into the beaker, considering the fact that the gases density is lighter than the waters. So it caused it to go down from the pressure. The water it took to fill the beaker up again was the amount of CO2 was emitted.
