Name
The name top of the pops is in in a yellow strip at the top of the page. Its not as big as one directions name meaning that the focus is not on the institution itself but of the actual people they have on the front cover. I dont think this is effective because the institution should still be of focus but this could be reversed and we could say that people should be able to recognize the conventions of the magazine.

Sub heading
The sub heading One direction is in a pink font at the top of the page. I think it was an interesting choice for the band on the front cover to be more important than the institution which would prove more affective as target consumers would buy on the basis of content rather than brand.

Picture
In the picture , the band are looking at the cameras direction and smiling. This paints a positive image of the band. I also think it was a good idea to not put them in bright colours as the clothes they are wearing present a contrast between their clothes and the colour scheme and layout.

Sell lines
The purpose of the sell lines is to give a taster to what the magazine includes to be able to sell the magazine , hence the name. I think top of the pops have used their sell lines effectively to approve to their demographic. Whereas other institutions includes words like exclusive to grab the consumers attention.
