Morgan Smith Sept. 10, 2012 Ms. Lipton Period 4 Mandala Artist Statement Who I am?

One difficult question to answer or a long answer better yet. My mandala isnt that clear, but thats what the artist statement is for. My mandala consist of things that relate to the visuals that we previously did. . After mentioning that its not exactly self explanatory I will attempt to explain all the pictures included in my all-over-the-place mandala. My explanations: 1) Big beautiful house: This big beautiful house is my dream house which answers visualization #4. Now, you cant exactly hold this house but the thought of doing something better with it like living in it is very special to me. This house will come from all my hard work and the long hours spent at school and hopefully a job. I envision it making me feel safe and comfortable, maybe even luxurious. I know for a fact it will make me feel blessed. It will be special because it will be home and my hide out. 2) College and universities: This picture fits with visual #6 because its where my journey is going to lead me. Obviously this is where I picture myself going, to college because I feel like I dont have another way to success. 3) The giving back picture: When it comes to the day that I give back because I can afford it, it will become one of the best days of my life. The feeling of giving back and knowing Im changing someone's life gives me a feeling that cant be put into words is what makes it important to me. Ill probably have an organization or foundation for those less fortunate.

I always go with my sister, Deja , and Jocelyn and it represents our togetherness and sense of enjoyment. It always makes me picture all of us in the beach houses together. 5) How to Make it in America: Not only my favorite show, but my visual guide. It helps me picture what it is I dream of and the reality of hard it is to reach those dreams. It helps me prepare for what it really is like in the real world regardless of it being a series. 6)Brazil: Where I picture my journey taking me. I would love to study aboard in Brazil because it would be beyond incredible. It shows me a different look on the world and other cultures. Its an educational experiment that would be unforgetable. 7) Love: Pretty self-explanatory because its something everyone wants and needs. It something I believe will complete my future. 8)Pregnant woman: It doesnt just stand for what I feel will fulfill my future life, but my own mother. One of my struggles in life is the affections Im not receiving from my mother. She is a great provider, but not the best at nourishing. I want to be the best for my children and I hope this wont affect my parenting. 9) We Can Do It!: Though I wasnt apart of this journey and encouragement, this journey is the reason for women freedom today. When the women finally stood up for our rights and thats why its so important to me. What this picture represents had and has always attracted me because I am a small feminist.

I like to sit in my room(my other favorite place) and read books because Im instantly in someones life of problems. 11) Entourage: My absolute favorite series! It was my first visual of what I wanted out of life. No unsolvable struggles. Living the life with an ENTOURAGE makes it so much better. It has only helped me to work towards what I want. It always represent my favorite people: family and friends! 12) South African Flag: My heritage. Where I would love to take my journey to. A place I want to study more about. The people I didnt get the chose, but wouldnt want it any other way. The people I have no fear in knowing they will always be there for me may not be understanding at first, but realise its me and who I am! Although who I am and what Ive been through cant completely be summed up by my mandala it is a great start. I am comfortable of what it presents and how its presented. The steps I went through to make this mandala is definitely a great start and help towards making a full personal statement about WHO I AM!
