THE TRADING GAME Update- 16 November Dear parentsLast week, I sent home your students MAP test scores;

if you have not received them, please check their school bag. Sometimes things get lost in there! Next week in EnglishWe continue to explore the importance of Role, Audience, Format, and Topic in writing, and show how to create a strong Voice. Also, students will have a posttest on sentence structure on Tuesday, November 20th. They can practice with games on my resources page, and on Mrs. Felicianos blog. We will also introduce a new reading initiative where students explore books of different genres. Next week in Social StudiesStudents continue work researching their specific product, and its impact on humans and the environment. We had our first research session today, and most students gave it a 10/10! They are enjoying working on Google docs, and are doing a good job on taking notes and documenting their sources. Today we had The Trading Game which was a simulation designed to symbolize some of the

highs, lows, and complications of global trade. It got pretty lively! Ask them what country they were from today. It seems we are on a count-down until the next holiday with a lot still to do, but we are making good progress! Have a pleasant weekend. Kind regards, Meg
