This year has been a particularly busy one for those involved in Working Multiculturally. In case you are unaware, Sheridan is currently evaluating its multicultural and diversity inittatives, and has also launched a Multicultural Parent Education Series. More importantly, the goals of these activities and structures are to promote a diverse and inclusive community in which all members of the

community are valued, respected, and nurtured. Additionally, we find it essential to foster a diverse community in which everyone can thrive socially, emotionally and academically; indeed these items are grounded in our mission concerning equity and social justice. The specific activities that fall under the Working Multiculturally umbrella are as follows:

1. Reflection on and improvement of school-wide systems and pedgogical practices that affect families, specifically in teaching and learning 2. Cultural inclusivity, celebrations, diversity education and support for students, families and faculty. 3. Leadership trainings, and professional learning communities centered on student-driven activities, and community development. 4. Student-led committees and clubs responsible for planning and organizing some of the diversity and multicultural servicelearning projects in the school.
