The Moon of the Greeks

 The moon, according to the theogony of Hesiod, is the daughter of Titan Hyperion and Theia Titaness.; She is sister of Eos (Dawn) and the Sun who illuminates her always showing his brotherly love.

 The moon is Normally presented either

riding a horse on the side or driving a chariot with a pair of strong horses (or bulls).

 The moon's sphere or the Crescent normally is presented either as a crown on her head or as an elevated aspect of the glittering cape. Several myths want her to drive a herd of bulls and so liken the crescent with the horns of the bull.

 The moon, is the goddess of the Selene, the Goddess of Night and Goddess of months. Several times has been confused with either the goddess Artemis, or the goddess Hera, either by Pasiphae or by Eileithyia, either Ariadne or with Hecate. The ancient Greeks counted the time in cycles of the moon, the lunar month, which is dividing into three tenday depending on how full or empty was the moon.

 So during the first ten days moon is filling up, the second ten days is at maximum brightness and during the third, empties and thats why was named the goddess of months. Also they thought that the night the goddess came out driving her chariot, she harbored the nature and when it was full moon, she was bathed in the waters of the ocean, which made her even brighter.

 Her great love is a beautiful boy, and a shepherd prince Endymion, who won his eternal youth and immortality by Zeus entering into an eternal state of sleep in a cave of Mount Latmos. There Moon (Selene) came to meet him and spent the evening with him. From Endymyona acquired fifty children, fifty months (every fifty months, four years, became the Olympics).

 From Zeus she gave birth to the goddess Pandias (pan aunt) and Ersa (Dew). Even, as some say her children were the times (seasons).

 La luna, secondo la teogonia di Esiodo, la figlia del Titano Iperione e Theia Titaness;. E 'sorella di Eos (Dawn) e il Sole che illumina la sua mostra sempre il suo amore fraterno.

 La luna generalmente indicata sia a cavallo sul lato o alla guida di un carro con un paio di cavalli forti (o tori).

 Sfera della luna o della Mezzaluna normalmente viene presentato sia come una corona in testa o come un aspetto elevata del promontorio scintillante. Molti miti che lei a guidare una mandria di tori e quindi paragonare la mezzaluna con le corna del toro.

 La luna, la dea della Selene, la dea della notte e della Dea di mesi. Pi volte stata confusa con la dea Artemide sia, o la dea Hera, sia per Pasifae o Eileithyia, sia Arianna o con Ecate. Gli antichi Greci contavano il tempo in cicli della luna, il mese lunare, che si sta dividendo in tre di dieci giorni a seconda di come pieno o vuoto era la luna.

 Quindi, durante i primi dieci giorni di luna si sta riempiendo, il secondo dieci giorni alla massima luminosit e durante il terzo, si svuota ed per questo stato chiamato la dea di mesi. Inoltre hanno pensato che la notte la dea venne cacciata suo carro, nutriva la natura e quando era luna piena, si era immersa nelle acque dell'oceano, che la rese ancora pi luminoso.

 Il suo grande amore un bel ragazzo, e un pastore principe Endymion, che ha vinto la sua eterna giovinezza e l'immortalit inserendo in uno stato di sonno eterno in una grotta del monte Latmos Zeus. Ci Moon (Selene) venuto incontro e ha trascorso la serata con lui. Da Endymyona acquisito una cinquantina di bambini, una cinquantina di mesi (ogni cinquanta mesi, quattro anni, diventato le Olimpiadi).

 Da Zeus ha dato alla luce il Pandias dea (pan zia) e Ersa (Dew). Anche, come dicono alcuni suoi figli erano i tempi (stagioni).
