Ornithopter

Jana Ravi Kiran Satish Babu Bonu

An Ornithopter is an aircraft which flies by flapping wings unlike conventional aircrafts which have fixed wings. The flapping of wings produces both lift and thrust. As demonstrated by birds, flapping wings offer potential advantages in maneuverability and energy savings compared to fixed wing aircraft as well as potentially vertical take off and landing. We know that displacing a large amount of mass at relatively lower velocity is more efficient than moving a small amount of mass at higher relative velocity. Thus, Ornithopter is more energy efficient as flapping wings displace larger mass at relatively lower velocity.
