LINES, ANGLES AND POLYGONS: The questions will deal with any line or angle relationship in a plane or any

polygon material from triangles through n-gons. The questions will not deal with area or questions better suited for circles or spheres. Similar polygons have congruent corresponding angles and corresponding sides that are in proportion. Their areas are related by the square of the scaling factor. The sum of the interior angles of a polygon = 180(n 2) where n is the number of sides of the polygon. The sum of the exterior angles of a convex polygon (one at each vertex) is always 360o. Cool? The number of diagonals of a convex n-gon = n(n 3) 2 Medians the median of a triangle connects a vertex with the midpoint of the opposite side (the 3 medians meet at the centroid and the centroid is 2/3 the distance from each vertex. The perpendicular bisectors of a triangle meet at the circumcenter, a point which is equidistant from each vertex. The angle bisectors of a triangle meet at the incenter, a point which is equidistant from the sides of the triangle. Midsegments- the midsegment of a triangle connects the midpoints of two sides. It is parallel to the third side and its length. The midsegment of a trapezoid connects the midpoints of the legs and is parallel to the bases and the mean of their lengths. Special triangles: 45o-45o-90o sides have a ratio of 1: 1: 2. 30o-60o-90o sides have the ratio 1: 3: 2 Quadrilateral diagonal notes: A parallelograms diagonals bisect each other. A rhombuss diagonals are also perpendicular. A kites diagonals are perpendicular but do not necessarily bisect each other. The diagonals of an isosceles trapezoid are congruent.
