12 Year Old Girl Sees Black Bear

A golden van was driving down a mountain road at 1:35 pm on Friday, the 16th of November. 12 year old Emily Walker saw a black bear trying to break into the trash cans, and told her mom what she had seen. I didnt believe her at first, said her mother, Genevieve Walker, but then I saw it with my own two eyes, and I was amazed. This was the first bear Emily had ever seen in the area out of the dozens of times she had visited the snowy peaks of Beech Mountain. The bear did not get into the trash can because of the lock on the lid, and because of their loud car horn.

When we honked the car horn the black bear just dashed off into the woods. I didnt know bears could run that fast, Commented Emilys father Doug Walker. The bear was not seen again by the Walker family as they were heading back to Raleigh, but the picture proves to their family and friends what they saw. Black bear sightings are popular in the mountains, but usually they dont go near the houses. More news on the sighting will be continued when we put together more information.
