Huston-Tillotson University Celebrates 137 Years

After 137 years, the relationship between Huston-Tillotson University (HT) and Wesley United Methodist Church still remains strong. By collaborating with some of HTs students, alumni, faculty and staff members, Wesley United Methodist Church was able to host a successful event early Sunday morning. HustonTillotson Day highlighted the history and heritage of the institution. Mid-service, the president of Huston-Tillotson, Larry Earvin stood in front of the congregation to say how important the university and church relationship is. Pastor Chase then spoke on the relationship between Wesley and HT, expressing its promising future. Without our relationship with Wesley, Huston-Tillotson wouldnt have remained sustained says Linda Y. Jackson, HT Director of Public Relations. In exactly one year, Wesley will host yet another Huston-Tillotson University Day, highlighting year 138 and the merger of Samuel Huston College and Tillotson College into Huston-Tillotson College.
