Case Title: Takira Motors: Creating Assembly and Process Chart

Abstract:
Shakiro, a management student was selected as a summer intern at Takira Motors, one of the renowned bikes manufacturing company. It manufactures wide variety of bikes on large scale with an objective to fulfill the needs of bike lovers. There, he learnt all the aspects of process design the company is involved into and their importance in an organisations success. At the end of his internship, he was given the task of conducting process analysis and creating Assembly and Process charts.

Objectives: Process analysis and Process Flowcharting Types of Processes Measuring Process performance Bottleneck activity Cycle time and throughput time.

Questions:
1). To what uses could these charts be applied in process design? Ans. Assembly flow chart can be used in process design to identify problem in manufacturing process Flow chart can give a step-by-step solution to a given problem. It includes start and end points, with inputs, outputs, possible paths, and decision along the way. Most use basic symbols: start and end steps are usually oval or rounded rectangles. A rectangle represents a step in the process and a diamond shape indicates a decision.

2). Do you think productivity and efficiency are different? Ans. Yes both are different.

Efficiency: The amount of error- free work performed over time. Productivity: The total amount of goods & services produced.
Efficiency is based on materials spend in production. The lesser time, energy & materials used to produce goods results in higher efficiency. Productivity is based how much is produced in a certain amount time. It refers to the total product of goods & services.
