Reflection on Workshops
Intervention prototyping workshop2 22-11-2012 For this workshop I prepared two prototypes. One was a picture frame with paint on the glass. In the picture frame was a map of France. The other prototype was a digital application my iPhone which is actually based on the same principal of an upper layer that you can get of. Only in the digital version you do this through swiping over the screen and with the picture frame through scratching with a scraper. In figure 1 and 2 the picture frame and the application are shown correspondingly. The two participants were told the following story: You as participants in this test must try to imagine you are living in the same flat. In this flat live about hundred people. One participant is already in the elevator when the second comes in. That is all I am going to say for now. Do you understand? A third person (buddy) was helping to observe. I expected that they would not notice the prototype so therefore an additional explanation was given after the first try out. Explanation: This (point at picture frame and hob scraper) is part of the prototype. Now you know we are going to repeat the test I gained a lot of insights form this workshop. I decided to develop some follow up concepts directions in order to provide them with stronger experiences. Those new concept prototypes will be tested with the real users in the real context. This workshop was done with students which are also a part of the target group but not the only ones so to say. I will have to to test with users who do not know my project in order to find out whether they understand it and/or are able to use it. To get insights about their experience a visual needs to be developed, because it seemed quite hard for people to state what they experience.
