Technology 2012 has indeed changed much when compared to that of 1945. The impact of this advance on everyday life is significant, as most of the common, modern mans life is comprised of technology. Examples of such technology would be the microwave, the computer and the development of the mobile phones. For example the progress of the microwave has greatly impacted the individual, but alsoAlthough the first microwave oven, built in 1947, Radarange, was bulky and costly, this set the motion for the further development on the microwave oven. In 1952, the Japanese company Tappan made the first microwave that could be used in a in the everyday household. This greatly changed the shape of many Australian families way of life, as before, much of the day was spent preparing, cooking, and then cleaning up after, the meals. With the development of the microwave, there was more time to spend on other activates. Another, perhaps on a wider scale, impact that came of the progress of the microwave, is the opportunity for microwave food factories to open. There had never been an invention like that of the microwave before, so a marketing opportunity opened for factories to specialize in microwave food. This, in turn, created new jobs, which in turn encouraged people to purchase more items, and, ultimately benefited the economy. Another example of a piece of technology that has impacted on everyday life is the computer. The first commercial computer was developed in the 1940s and was large and bulky. However, in 1975, the first personal computer was made, by IBM and had 64k of memory, but it cost 19000 US dollars. The first successful, mass-produced computer was the Apple II, introduced in 1977.
