2012 My Epiphany Over the past few months of job shadowing, military-related community service, and research on Army recruiters, I have discovered military programs that changed my ideas of future plans and actions. The programs and benefits offered to soldiers intrigued me and pulled my away from the idea of going to college. During my research, I have learned that the military offers the education I wish to have. Also, these programs can grant me college credits if I wish to obtain a full degree. I can receive college credits during basic training and further my education while receiving a salary for it. If I wish to further my education, I can attend Advanced Individual Training for a specific job in the military. I still have major opportunities for a college education unlike the normal college life. I can receive the education I want and need for a successful future from the military for free instead of going to college and paying an enormous amount of money. The idea of a free education interests me most because I do not wish to burden my parents with the financial costs of college. I wish to experience the life of a soldier and gain the characteristics of one. My Senior Project opened new windows of opportunity for my future career goal and me. Thanks to Senior Project, I am better equipped with research to decide which branch I will choose. However, this will never be an uncomplicated decision to make no matter how much research I have.
