Gnosticism

Comes from the word Gnosis, which means knowledge of spiritual matters; mystical knowledge.

Gnosticism is a philosophical system built on Greek philosophy. Developed in the second century CE. Docetism- a clear separation between the material and spiritual world. Supposedly had knowledge of god that was exclusive Taught that man is composed of body, soul, and spirit.

Major Beliefs
Christ came to teach, not suffer Obtain salvation not through faith, but through knowledge. Many lost in darkness and ignorance, but few can wake up Think they are the only ones who truly understand Christ's message Evolution and natural selection are correct principles of creation. True worship is to imitate Gods goodness Do not believe in a Devil
