upper middle class of the society, wants their children to become either an engineer or a doctor. This have been observed from generation by generation. But why is this so? Cause people consider these two fields is the most safest and the most quickest means to earn both money and prestige in the society..This obviously can never be true.

For a student has the total independence to choose his/her respective field where he/she is capable of showing experties. For now lets get into the life of students, who enrolled their names in the world of medical and technology, either by parental pressure or from his/her own encouragement..

Keeping apart the medical scenario, let us have a look at the insight of the engineering society growing up in this countryIn 2010 about 7.5 lacks engineering graduates were produced, while in 2008 the amount was upto 3.5 lacks. While in US it 70,000 and China it is 60,000.This may be due to, in these countries people are comfortable with Commerce or

Arts, while in India most of them are not. The reason had been explained earlier..This very well proves that the engineering graduates are on a constant rise. There are about 1522 degree providing college in India..Apart from IITs which contains of about 7,500(aprox) seats in total, the others falls in the category of NITs and private colleges..The number of

national colleges are 20 in all India(leaving apart their branches). So there is a great demand for engineers in India, and also all over the world. But how is this demand fulfilled? What is the eligibility criteria for this fulfillment? India follows the following criteria:-

1)A 45% above score in H.S in science subjects(maths physics, chemistry). 2)Age above 18 years. These two criteria stands for students who wants to sit for the entrance examination. After cracking the entrance test, next the student takes admission in various ,NITs and government affiliated private engineering colleges. But after

being a graduate, at the time of opting jobs through campussing, this criterion no longer holds good. Then arises another scenario. A 60% above th th marks in 10 and 12 board exams is then considered as an necessary requirement for placement jobs. Then, 1)What happens to those students who got less than 60%

in H.S and got admission in engineering? 2)Does this criteria really fruitful in choosing eligible students? 3)What is the scenario in IITs?.. 4)Conditions of students; We will come to all the above mentioned queries along with many others in the next few paragraphs

THE PROBLEMS:-Most of the parents wants their children to take science after passing out th 10 board exam. Now this wish is mainly formatted in them, keeping in view to make their children either an engineer or a doctor, as the two fields are considered the quickest way to fame and money as explained earlier. But certain condition must be essentially looked

through while deciding this,or else the student may fall to its prey. First of all,a student after th passing 10 board exam should be aware of his/her science skills, aptitude and interest and then may proceed to help it. Parental pressure should be necessarily done off at this stage, for the students who do not have enough aptitude in science subjects may not do

well in later exams, which may raise important problems. But this aptitude ,as far as my opinion is concerned should not only be marks oriented, it should be granted by considering the interest the skill and ones ability of producing new ideas in this field along with marks. But again our country lacks in these kinds of skill tests. The students

from the beginning are not trained in such a way. Projects, Skill and Aptitude test are not encouraged even in the best school of the city. So not only students, but parents are also not acquainted with these methods. So a student who doesnt have the above mentioned ability, at the end wants nothing but to get rid of the subjects like physics,

chemistry, mathematics. Again a lack of good trainer leads to such difficult situations. Nowadays this profession is also turned out as a business. There are big, expensive coaching classes which in the name of education are doing business with the students. There are no classes giving lectures on the basics of science subjects, but all classes

runs upon suggestion problems. The better suggestion one provides, the more crowdy is his class. This is of course not expected!Hence a student who though had taken science, but due to different reasons felt to have fell in a well, can never do well. These kinds of students commonly becomes the prey of the educational system. Now even

after a bad score of say less than 60%, if they again want to forgo engineering then? This cases arises in 60% of Indian population due to mainly parental pressure, as described earlier. These students after adopting engineering, faces problems. They can niether leave the course nor can live with it, hence the situation becomes more worse, leading

to a poor SGPA. Now a student with less than 60% criterion and poor SGPA has nowhere to go. This leads to the problems of unemployed engineers in India. In 2009 our labour and employment minister Mallikaarjun Kharga, declared 2 lacks engineers to be unemployed in India, while in 2005 it was 7.5 thousand and even was more in 2003.The

latest news speaks of engineers who have got a grade of even less than 50% in India is increasing due to private colleges.65% of engineers fall under this category. About 25% of engineers are well established, but what about others? These people pass out the entrance test, as there are so many private colleges in India, that they dont really face

problems, for getting a degree. The real problem starts at the time of job recruitment. Even the latest news speaks of unemployed students from IIT,Bombay. If IItians face such problems, if students raise questions about the quality of education of such prestigious institutions, then think about the dimmed colleges! And the most important problem is the

lack of basic knowledge, which should had been strengthened from schools and colleges itself, but unfortunately this seldom happens. If a student just have gone to acquire degree from a college, how can we expect of their placement? But insprite of all these, there are a few number of students, who though did off badly in board exams regain their

interests during engineering. They mainly are at first recruited in small companies, then moves to the bigger ones to achieve their goal. But the initial conditions are also troublesome for them too. So a question arises, while IITs grants students with only 60% of aggregate in board exams, why does others allow students with less than 60% to sit for the

entrance test itself? for the conditions of a engineering graduate roaming with a prestigious degree is very hurting as well as shameful. Here comes the scenario of educational business. The percentage of students getting above 60% in boards are a handful. Then how would the private engineering colleges run? They run by sucking the

blood of young students and their parents. Most of the private engineering colleges neither have good faculties, nor infrastructure, yet they run. The students are not even trained with a good speaking skill. Spoken English should be looked after along with group discussion skills. But again these are neglected. why? The answer is corruption. Our

educational system itself is corrupted, else why should a regular student get less than 60%.But after becoming an engineer with low scores neither the college, nor the board takes his/her responsibility. Why should this be so? The students have to pay a huge amount to the college every year, which grants placement and quality

education at the end of four years, then why is this promise forgotten and the poor students are turned out at the end? Should not the board, which is a government body look through these matters? If a 60% above percentile speaks of a quality student then why dont we admit only those who are qualified? What is the use of producing such a lot of

unemployed engineers? .The current scenario of unemployment of engineers in India raises questions upon the quality of education upon the aptitude of engineers. In many private colleges till now the labs are even not enough equipped. Is this a quality education? Then why are these students paying such a lot of fees?

Infosys, TCS, IBM demands of a good score in boards, a good SGPA,but the students cant stand in front of the demand. They even lack aptitude skills which are the basics for an engineer. On part of the companies they are justified to take qualified students for the betterment of their business. For, again a good engineer helps in the betterment of a

company. So this is very well justified to have qualified students in business and engineering. Even many students are going for MBA and M.Tech after B.Tech to get a better job. Nowadays as the number of MBA students are also on a constant rise, hence there also the demand for 60% arises. Even the students who though get jobs are not pleased

with it for they are of low quality, with respect to the degree. It is shocking to hear, that the engineering students are even recruited in callcentres nowadays. What can be more shocking than this??A engineer working in callcenter!!! There always arises a question ,is education a business?.NO!!NEVER!!Then

why is it made so? Even now many colleges do not ensure placements for which the students have to sit for offcampus-ing to grab jobs. Dream of many students remain undefined even after becoming engineers or passing MBA. This is surely not expected from a government who ensures us betterment in our living..

CONCLUSION AND INFERENCE:We have almost reached to the end of this essay. At last I have drawn certain conclusions which may prove to be fruitful if implemented:1)The educational system should ensure aptitude testing skills for students from very beginning in schools. Hence a rule should be made, to allow students with only of more

than 60% marks in science and having basic skills. If possible provision of interview may also be made. 2)A student with a very low grade in boards may be allowed to sit for the board exam twice. 3)The quality of teachers both in school and colleges must be ensured, if necessary they should also be trained. Nowadays teachers or faculties

in colleges, themselves do not have the aptitude skills, they even doesnt know the procedure, the effective way to make a subject interesting. The colleges and even the boards should have a close scutiny of this matter. 4) Practicals , Projects Aptitudes, Designs must be encouraged amongst both

school and engineering students. 5)If 60% is the eligibility criteria for placements, then 60% should also be the criteria for admission in colleges. This step must necessarily be followed.I believe this will decrease number of unemployed engineers in India and would also ensure quality education in India.

6)The quality of education delivered by the college, be it private or national must always be inspected, and its betterment should be considered. 7)A Engg. college lacking in faculties, lab equipments should be compensated. 8) Atleast of 80% placement must be ensured by the college, if not then the matter should

be of concern of the board, and necessary steps should be taken. 9)The faculties must look through the students performance and a poor student must be helped off with necessities All these above conditions may be implemented for betterment of both quality, education and placement of

engineers. In a democratic and developing nation like India, we all engineers can very well demand it. It is in the betterment of education, lies the betterment of country. The companies like TCS, Infosys, IBM should also consider the skills, aptitude of a low grade student also. For there may exist a genius, who have been looked over, as

there may always exist a diamond amongst the coals..
