Evaluation of Students Digipak As part of my Digipak research, I found some examples off Google images of previous A2 students Digipaks.

Example 1

This student Digipak has a dark theme to it, as the main colours are very dull and consist of navy, blacks and greys. The contrast of lighter colours on top of the darker colours is also a consistent theme across this Digipak. It is very simplistic and has a picture of a girl and here name (Adele) is also present across 3 out of 6 of the slides, which shows that she is either the main artist or the only artist of the Digipak, this follows the conventions of a mainstream musician who is trying to self promote. However unlike the previous professional Digipaks, which I have seen, this Digipak is very basic as there is no free bonus merchandise included like a song lyrics booklet or signed mini poster etc. Although this Digipak is astatically pleasing, its simple form could come across as quite basic which makes me believe that the student may not have conducted as much research as possible into Digipaks as there is not really much special editing techniques included.

Example 2

The next student Digipak that I have decided to evaluate is different from the first as it is only a 4-cover folder design rather than 6. On the other hand there are elements of this Digipak, which are similar to the first students example that I evaluated as this Digipak also does not include any merchandise for the fans buying this which makes it less consumer friendly. The colour scheme used here

is grey and pink and includes a picture of a grey spider and the CD disk is pink. On the front cover of this Digipak there is a picture of the artist face and on the back of the Digipak cover there is a picture of the back of the artist head which shows creativity. The colour theme also refers back to the title of the album as it is called The Pink Spiders. The contrast of pink and black is effective as compliment each other. However I am not a fan of this Digipak as I think it is too simple and looks as though not much planning has gone into the making of it.
