Jesus said, “If I send them away hungry to there own
houses, they will faint on the way; for some of them have come from afar”. – Mark 8:3 (NKJ)
Foresight is a call for critical action today. A leader without
foresight is a blind guide. Jesus had foreseen an impending danger ahead; sending four thousand hungry people home in the wilderness would have serious image implication on his ministry. I’ll surmise it this way: Jesus may have thought within himself if I should they should faint on the way: -
* Where do I get ambulances to get four thousand
people to the nearest hospital?
* How do I explain this to the government of the day?
* What happens to the reputation of the ministry?
Often times, today’s crisis is a reflection of yesterday’s
carelessness. Today’s abuse becomes tomorrow’s liability. Left for the disciples of Jesus, the crowd should be sent away (Matt 14:15). Followers avoid problems, leaders look for problems to solve. Crisis is a call for belated action immediately. Every crisis requires practical wisdom and radical faith: that takes cognizance of facts and faith to act on divine instruction in spite of facts.
