ADJECTIVES

1. BOUND / SURE + INFINITIVE You think that sth. is certain to be true or happen. He is bound / sure to be here in a minute. He left an hour ago. Shes sure to know. She is an expert on the subject. 2. LIKELY / UNLIKELY + INFINITIVE / THAT CLAUSE You think that sth. is probable to be true or happen. I think shes likely to agree to our proposal weve given her very good reasons. The doctors say that at his age hes unlikely to recover. I think its very likely that the meeting will be over by 6.00. Its unlikely that the government will raise interest rates this year. ADVERBS

1. DEFINITELY / PROBABLY + Sentences: They go before a main verb and after an auxiliary verb. She definitely speaks Russian . Hes probably British. Shell definitely pass the exam. Shes worked really hard. Hell probably be here around 8.00. He usually leaves work at 7.30. -Sentences: Before the auxiliary verb. The painting definitely isnt genuine. She definitely wont pass the exam. She hasnt done any work at all. He probably wont be here until about 8.15. Hes stuck in a traffic jam.
*NOTE Be likely to and will probably are very similar in meaning, but be likely to is more formal. The new coach is likely to be appointed today. / The new coach will probably be appointed today.
