Reflex Integration Workshop

Presented by: Rosie Yurick OTR/L & Nola Marriner PhD/SLP Who Should Attend: Parents and professionals Date: Wednesday, January 9th Time: 6:30-9:00 Where: MOSAIC-Center for Therapy Services-Seattle 4909 25th Ave NE Suite 200 Seattle WA 98105 COST: COMPLIMENTARY A reflex is an instinctual, stereotypical movement or combinations of movements that happen automatically without conscious effort or will. Primitive reflexes emerge in the womb and during infancy and are typically active for a short time. Postural reflexes are active our whole life. When primitive reflexes remain active and postural reflexes are underdeveloped there are often underling foundational problems with functioning. This workshop will give an overview of reflexes, discuss when they should be integrated and describe some of the approaches for integrating these reflexes. A summary of the research supporting this work will also be provided. We will demonstrate how we test for two reflexes and how we would develop a program for reflex integration of these reflexes. Please call us at 206 388-3751 to let us know that you will be attending.
