ASSIGNMENT BRM

RANDOMIZED BLOCK DESIGNS

An extension of the completely randomized design in which a single extraneous variable that might affect test units response to the treatment has been identified and the effects of this variable are isolated by blocking out its effects. The signature of this design is that it looks as though it has two factors. However, because there is only one subject per cell, the interaction term cannot be extracted 1 In a two-way layout when there is one subject per cell, the design is called a randomized block design. When there are two or more subjects per cell (cell sizes need not be equal), then the design is called a two-way ANOVA. E.g.Store type is extraneous variable which would also affect product sales

FACTORIAL DESIGNS
An experiment that investigates the interaction of two or more independent variables on a single dependent variable

LATIN SQUARE DESIGNS A balanced, two-way classification scheme that attempts to control or block out the effect of two extraneous factors by restricting randomization with respect to the row and column effects.

THE KEY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE THREE IS: In randomized block the objects have no interaction between them & there is 1 independent variable, 1 dependent variable, 1 extraneous variable whereas, In Latin square there is 1 independent variable, 1 dependent variable, 2 extraneous variable whereas, In factorial design there is 1 independent variable & many dependent variable & the objects have interaction between them.
