As it is defined that prejudice and stereotypes grossly distort reality - what is the reality we are not able to see?

It is due to stereotypes and prejudice that most of todays racial crimes and crimes amongst religions happen and it is also in them that we may find the fault for intolerances. Stereotypes and prejudice generalize the social reality in a, sometimes completely unfounded way. That is why it is important to understand that they in themselves are not a just portrayal of anything. In every social group there are a few people representative of them, but the ones that are not are exceedingly more numerous. People are, in their chore, all the same, not matter what race or religion, it is in the matter of our character and upbringing that we differentiate and should therefore be judged merely based on our merits and not our genetic or social predispositions. There was, after all, a time not so long ago, when African Americans werent allowed to attend same places as Americans. They were prejudices on the account of their skin colour and are still, sometimes, in a less favoured position because of it and all that because of the prejudice that based upon their skin colour they are worth less than white people. The same thing was happening to women, who were also prejudiced, and sometimes still are, on being the weaker and less worthy sex. They, same as African Americans, were, in the past, denied the right to vote and gain admission anywhere based merely upon their merits. And it is those same prejudice and many others that are being carried on in todays society, but in a more discrete way. Stereotypes are generalized conceptions or judgments in regard with different social groups and their members, while prejudices are unfounded inclinations towards the same groups, based on strong emotion. They are both a big part of our social lives and may sometimes be true, but it is important to be able to separate that truth from what is clearly exaggerated or completely untrue.
