Organic foods are foods that are produced using methods that do not involve modern synthetic inputs such as synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Organic foods are preferred due to their Safety, Nutritional value, and Taste.

Commonwealth of Independent States includes Russia, Belarus, Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia Ukraine Tajikistan.

Organic Cereals: Wheat, rice, maize or corn. Organic Pulses: Red gram, black gram. Organic Fruits: Banana, mango, orange, pineapple, passion fruit, cashew nut, walnut. Organic Oil Seeds and Oils: Soybean, sunflower, mustard, cotton seed, groundnut, castor. Organic Vegetables: Brijal, garlic, potato, tomato, onion. Organic Herbs and Spices: Chili, peppermint, turmeric, black pepper, white pepper, amla, ginger, clove. Others: sugar, tea, coffee.

Russia currently imports around 40% of its food consumption. Demand for organic products is increasing amongst wealthier consumers in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Approximately, 7 million people, would prefer to buy only organic food. 42% of Moscow's population is clinically overweight, and diabetic and heart disease are spreading. Organic baby food shows the fastest development with growth of 25% in current sales value.

Experts estimate future sales of organic products could reach $290 million in 2012. A custom union exists between Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. Organic food imports by these countries are wheat, rice, fruits, vegetables, butter, ice cream, tea, oils, herbs and spices.

India can exports organic basmati rice to Russia. It will get a new market not only in Russia but also in other countries. In return India can import Crude oil and gas from Russia as it has high depositories of following.

India can export organic tea to Uzbekistan. As Uzbekistan does not produce tea so the Indian organic tea will get a new market in CIS nation.

India can export organic spices to Belarus. There is high demand of agro product in Belarus so it will be good of India to get a new market in CIS nation. In return India could import machinery product that are manufactured in Belarus.
