7) Protestanitism is one of the three major divisions within Christianity. This movement began in Europe in the early 16th century, as a reaction against medieval Roman Catholic doctrines and practices. Particular Protestant churches differ, but almost unanimously they include such doctrines as: - justification by grace only through faith in God not through works, - the priesthood of all believers, - the Bible as the ultimate authority in matters of faith and order - only Jesus is the agent of God - whole glory is devoted to God Protestant churches are divided into three major groups: a) mainline protestants b) anabaptists c) baptists a) Lutheranism, Calvinism, Anglicanism, Methodist, Presbyterians c) Quakers
