INTRODUCTION:: 1. Frequency Modulation is totally different from Amplitude modulation. 2. In short it is termed as FM. 3. FM is type of Angle Modulation. 4.

In Angle modulation either frequency or Phase of the carrier is varied a ccording to the message (modulating) signal, But Carrier AMPLITUDE IS CONTSTANT. PRINCIPLE OF FM:: 1. In sinusoidal FM , the modulating signal is a pure Sine Wave, Defined as X(t)=Emcos(2piFmt). 2. To theoretically define FM we can say that, It is a system of modulation in which INSTANTANEOUS FREQUENCY of carrier wave is varied in proportion to the amplitude of MODULATING signal. 3. An important point to note is , Amplitude of Carrier signal remains alwa ys CONSTANT. 4. Thus in FM message in Conveyed through frequency changes. 5. FM was first practically tested in 1936 as an alternative to AM.
