HOLIDAY HOMEWORK (2012-13) CLASS XII S 1. ENGLISH

Dear students, Its holiday time once again! We want you to enjoy your vacation so that you come back to the school refreshed and rejuvenated. At the same time we want you to remain in touch with your studies. For this we have designed an interesting and enriching Holiday Homework. Heres your chance to be truly creative let your thoughts run a race with your pen and just write, write, write! 1 Read the lessons given in your syllabus. You may choose thematic content of any two lessons and write on them as you please in the form of an article ,Speech ,Debate or Report. For instance you choose The Lost Spring. You can express your views on Child Labour.(Writing Section File) 2 Design posters on any two social issues to create awareness amongst general masses. 3 Collect Five Classifed and Five Display Advertisements from Newspapers and paste in your Files for Writing Section. 4. Compile a Question Bank with at least 10 specimen questions from each lesson of Flamingo in your Literature Notebook. 5. Read the poems My Mother at Sixty Six and Aunt Jennifers Tigers and write the thematic content of both the poems. Also write your interpretations of the poems. 5. Prepare for the Unit Test

3. COMPUTER SCIENCE
1. Learn all the MySQL commands(DML, DDL) properly.

2. Solve the MySQL questions given in previous years(2007 - 2012) Board Question papers. 3. Select a topic for Project. Make its layout and try to do some programming. 4. Prepare for the Unit Test.

4. PHYSICAL EDUCATION

5. PHYSICS
Do an investigatory project on one of the following topics. 1. To study various factors on which the internal resistance/emf of a cell depends. 2. To study the variations, in current flowing, in a circuit containing a LDR, because of a variation. (a) in the power of the incandescent lamp, used to 'illuminate' the LDR. (Keeping all the lamps at a fixed distance). (b) in the distance of a incandescent lamp, (of fixed power), used to 'illuminate' the LDR. 3. To find the refractive indices of (a) water (b) oil (transparent) using a plane mirror, a equiconvex lens, (made from a glass of known refractive index) and an adjustable object needle. 4. To design an appropriate logic gate combination for a given truth table. 5. To investigate the relation between the ratio of (i) output and input voltage and (ii) number of turns in the secondary coil and primary coil of a self designed transformer. 6. To investigate the dependence, of the angle of deviation, on the angle of incidence, using a hollow prism filled, one by one, with different transparent fluids. 7. To estimate the charge induced on each one of the two identical styro

foam (or pith) balls suspended in a vertical plane by making use of Coulomb's law. 8. To set up a common base transistor circuit and to study its input and output characteristic and to calculate its current gain. 9. To study the factor, on which the self inductance, of a coil, depends, by observing the effect of this coil, when put in series with a resistor/(bulb) in a circuit fed up by an a.c. source of adjustable frequency. 10. To construct a switch using a transistor and to draw the graph between the input and output voltage and mark the cut-off, saturation and active regions. Learn the chapters covered in class and do the ncert exercise and worksheets

Relations and functions
1. If A is the set of students of a school then write, which of following relations

are. (Universal, Empty or neither of the two). R1 = {(a, b) : a, b are ages of students and |a b| 0} R2 = {(a, b) : a, b are weights of students, and |a b| < 0} R3 = {(a, b) : a, b are students studying in same class} R4 = {(a, b) : a, b are age of students and a > b} 2. Is the relation R in the set A = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5} defined as R = {(a, b) : b= a + 1} reflexive? 3. If R, is a relation in set N given by R = {(a, b) : a = b 3, b > 5},then does elements (5, 7) R? 4. If f : {1, 3} {1, 2, 5} and g : {1, 2, 5} {1, 2, 3, 4} be given by f = {(1, 2), (3, 5)}, g = {(1, 3), (2, 3), (5, 1)}Write down gof.

5. Let * is a Binary operation defined on R, then if (i) a * b = a + b + ab, write 3 * 2 (ii) a * b = 4a 9b2, Write (1 * 2) * 3. 6. If n(A) = n(B) = 3, Then how many bijective functions from A to B can be formed?

7. If f (x) = x + 1, g(x) = x 1, Then (gof) (3) = ?
