Oil and gas

Cut out the statements about coal, oil and gas and put them in the right order. There is more than one correct answer. Stick the picture at the top.

COAL
The light from the Sun made plants and trees grow. Millions of years ago, the plants and trees grew. Electricity is then used for running electric trains. The coal is then used in a coal powered power station where it is used for making electricity. These trees died and fell into mud and more layers of mud collected on top of these trees and changed them into coal. Then coal is taken from coal mine by coal train. Electricity is used in houses, flats and offices. We can dig the coal out from the ground. This is called coal mining.

OIL AND GAS

Gas can be used in cooking and in power stations for making electricity. Millions of years ago there lived tiny sea creatures (animals). Oil is then separated at the oil refinery. Oil is then taken from oil field by oil tankers. These animals died and fell to the bottom of the sea, layers of mud fell on top of them. Oil and gas is removed from the ground by digging through the layers of rock. Oil is used in cars, as a fuel in cooking, for heating in houses and by trains. Their bodies changed into oil and gas which got trapped between layers of rock.
