Kenya: 2012 Inter-communal conflict by district (as of 21 November 2012)

This year, over 400 people have been killed, 250 injured and 112,000 displaced from their homes as a result of isolated incidents of inter-communal, resource-based conflict in Kenya. This month has seen a rise in localised clashes, so far contained, as a result of competition over land, resources, and the ongoing process of political devolution. This map highlights the most affected districts, notably in Eastern, North Eastern, Rift Valley and Coast Provinces, where cattle rustling is common, and competition over scarce resources is high.
