Class Time: 1:302:45 p.m., TR Building and Room: 105 Geology Professor-in-Charge: Dr. Haitao Wang Oce and Phone: 402F Old Main, 797-2416 E-mail: haitao.wang@usu.edu Oce Hours: 2:454:15 p.m., TR or by appointment Prerequisites: Courses: CS2420 (Algorithms and Data Structures) and CS5050 (Advanced Algorithms) Course Objectives: Learning factual knowledge in computational geometry (terminology, methods, combinatorial results). Learning fundamental algorithm design techniques (principles, generalizations, or theories) for solving geometric problems. Learning how to apply course materials to solve new geometric problems (or to model problems to geometric problems) to improve problem solving and decisions. Textbook: Mark de Berg, Otfried Cheong, Marc van Kreveld, and Mark Overmars, Computational Geometry: Algorithms and Applications, the third edition, Springer 2010. Course Work and Grading: Homework: 40% (57 problem sets) Mid-term: 25% (in class, Thursday, March 7) Final: 30% (105 Geology, 1:303:20 p.m., Thursday, May 2) Class Attendance: 5% January 28 is the last day to drop classes without notation on transcript.
