Whilst filming the preliminary video we had one major problem. As we entered the room we were not aware of the fact some drumming lessons were being held next door. As we tried to film, this noise of the banging drums was drowning out the dialogue that happens in the video so when we watched the clip back, we couldnt hear our voices. This led to us having to wait until there was silence in the room which is obviously rather inconvenient. Another problem we encountered was when filming the scene in which James walks into the room, half of his head was out of the shot. We noticed this luckily before the editing stage and so we re-filmed the piece and that was easily sorted. Another issue when filming was the fact the cameraman, was not fully concentrating and so parts of the scene were very shaky. This led to the characters not being in focus and the clip looking quite unprofessional. Just like before, the scene had to be shot again which took up more of our editing time and effort. In terms of things that we can carry on to our thriller opening we realised the importance of the 180-degree rule. If this is broken, the continuity of the clip is ruined and so it would have to be shot again. We discovered that for the thriller clip we would have to film each scene a number of times as we later found problems with some of the clips. Having a range of the same clip would mean we could choose the best and not have to come back days later and film the same scenes again. For the thriller we will film each scene from different angles to avoid this problem and give us a good range of shots to choose from. The shooting went well other than the problem of half of James head being cut off when entering the classroom. We were going to use this clip and make-do however we wanted to make the clip seem more professional with no faults. To resolve this issue, James wore the same clothes and the shot was re-filmed with no faults. This made the clip seem more professional and we were then happy with the clip as a whole. If we were to do this preliminary task again we would have taken numerous amounts of shots of the same scene as well as using a tripod when filming to prevent the problem of camera shake.
